Client feedback, pinned to your Shopify theme preview
Clients click anything on your unpublished theme and leave a comment, with a screenshot of what they saw. You reply, resolve and track it all from your Shopify admin. No client accounts, no browser extensions, no preview links to keep resending.

Stop resending preview links that expire in 2 days
Shopify's shareable preview links expire 2 days after you create them. So the client opens Friday's link on Monday, it's dead, and the revision round starts with another email. Then the feedback arrives in five different places.
Links that expire
A fresh preview link every couple of days, and a client who still ends up looking at the live theme.
Feedback everywhere
Email threads, Slack, voice notes and screenshots cropped so tight you can't tell which page they're from.
Guessing what they meant
Which button, on which page, on mobile or desktop? Half of every round goes on working that out.
Share your theme preview with clients in three steps
Set up once per store, in a couple of minutes. Nothing to paste into your theme code.
-
Install and switch it on
Add Proofmark from the Shopify App Store, then turn on its app embed for the unpublished theme you want reviewed.
-
Invite your client
Enter their email. Their sign-in link opens the preview theme directly, with the store password included if you've saved it.
-
They click, you resolve
They hit Comment and click any element. You reply, resolve and track every thread from your Shopify admin.
Every comment shows exactly what your client saw
Comments pin to the element itself: the heading, the button, the product photo. Proofmark captures a screenshot of it and records the page, the theme and the screen width, so there's nothing to guess.
- Screenshot attached to every comment, automatically
- Pins stay on their element as the layout shifts
- Pins whose element was removed are flagged for re-pinning
No accounts, passwords or extensions for your clients
Clients sign in from a single-use link in their email and stay signed in for 30 days on that browser. They don't need a Shopify account, collaborator access or anything installed.
- Click Comment, then click anything on the page
- Works in the browser they already use
- Colleagues without an invite can ask for access, and you approve
Reply, resolve and track it all in your Shopify admin
Every comment from every preview theme lands in one list. Filter by status or theme, search the text, and jump straight to the spot on the preview.
- Reply, resolve and reopen from the admin or the preview
- Bulk resolve, and unread markers for your team
- Email notifications, grouped, and skipped if already read
Know what's going stale before the launch date
See open threads, the median time to resolve and the reopen rate for every theme in review, plus the comments nobody has touched in a while.
- Open and resolved threads per theme
- Threads per page, so you can see where the work is
- A list of threads that have gone quiet
Built for unpublished themes, safe for the live store
Unpublished themes only
Commenting works only on preview themes. The moment a theme is published, commenting closes and its threads are archived.
Never on the live store
Proofmark runs as a theme app embed whose script isn't served on the published theme at all. Shoppers never load it, and there's no code to paste or clean up.
Password-protected stores
Save the storefront password in settings and it goes into the invite. Clients enter it once, and Proofmark walks them through that step.
Proofmark vs generic website feedback tools
Tools like BugHerd, Markup.io, Marker.io and Pastel are built for any website. On Shopify that usually means a browser extension, a script in your theme code, or loading the store through a proxy. Proofmark is built for one job: client review of Shopify theme previews.
| Proofmark | Generic feedback tools | |
|---|---|---|
| Setup on Shopify | Install from the Shopify App Store, switch on the app embed | Browser extension, a script pasted into theme code, or a proxy link |
| What your client needs | An email link | Often an extension, an account, or both |
| Unpublished preview themes | Built for them; commenting closes on publish | Possible with workarounds; a pasted snippet can end up on the live theme |
| Where you manage feedback | Inside your Shopify admin | A separate web app |
| Billing | On your Shopify bill | A separate subscription |
| Price | Free, $19 or $39 a month per store | About $39 to $150+ a month |

Questions agencies ask
How do I share an unpublished Shopify theme with a client?
In your Shopify admin, go to Online Store, open the actions menu on the theme, click Preview, then use the share button in the preview bar to copy a visitor preview link.
With Proofmark you invite the client by email instead. Their sign-in link opens the preview theme directly, and they can pin comments on it straight away. Our guide covers every way to share a Shopify theme preview.
How long do Shopify preview links last?
According to the Shopify Help Center (checked October 2026), visitor preview links, the shareable shopifypreview.com links, expire 2 days after they're created. Merchant previews, which need admin login, expire after 30 days. Many older guides still say 14 days.
Proofmark doesn't rely on Shopify's share links: invites open the preview theme directly and clients stay signed in for 30 days. More in how long Shopify preview links last.
Do my clients need a Shopify account, collaborator access or a browser extension?
No. Clients get a single-use sign-in link by email. There's no account to create, nothing to install and no access to your Shopify admin.
Does Proofmark work on a password-protected Shopify store?
Yes. Save the storefront password in Proofmark's settings and it's included in the invite email. Clients enter it once on the store's password page, and Proofmark shows them that step before the preview opens.
What happens to comments when I publish the theme?
Commenting closes as soon as a theme is published, and its threads are archived. Proofmark only ever runs on unpublished themes.
Will Proofmark slow down or appear on my live store?
No. Proofmark is a theme app embed, and its script isn't served on the published theme at all. Shoppers never load it, and nothing is pasted into your theme code.
Which themes does Proofmark work with?
Any theme that supports app embeds, including Dawn, Horizon and other Online Store 2.0 themes, and custom themes built on them. You switch it on for an unpublished theme in the theme editor under App embeds.
Who counts as a reviewer on the plans?
Reviewers are the clients and outside people you invite. Your store staff are always free and don't count towards the limit. Plans are per store and billed through Shopify.
